Meet your little friends from Ghana
What are they like, what conditions do they live in, what do they do...
The idea of creating our foundation came from the founder, Vera Vučić, who lived and worked in Ghana for over two years. During her stay in Ghana, she was fascinated by the fact that people in Ghana, especially children, are in fact the happiest and most smiling inhabitants of our planet, although they often live in very difficult conditions, almost on the verge of existence. The smiles of these children and their happy and curious eyes are enough to give them hope that their future will be better than the present.
We often witness how our children and children all over the world get upset if they are not given a toy or if they do not like the school they attend.
Most of our little heroes go to public schools because private schools are usually not available to them.
And in your free time, like all children in the world, it’s time to play.
Those who are a little happier have toys…
These children often have to work and thus help their parents. Unfortunately, there are also many children who are abandoned or have lost their parents, so they have to work to survive.
Since there is no law in Ghana that makes schooling compulsory, a large number of these abandoned children never get a chance to make their lives better. Sometimes it seems that those who are placed in orphanages are actually happier, because even though they live in extreme poverty, at least they have a chance for a regular education.
