We hope that through our Foundation, with the help of kind people, we will be able to help a large number of children, but, of course, we decided who will be our first beneficiary, so that all this would not be just – some children are somewhere in some parts of the world…

We present you four girls – four sisters.
Emelia Yayra – 10 years old
Vera Abena – 8 years old
Jessica Mansa – 6 years old
Marigold Mawunya – 2 years

Emmanuel and Rita are the names of their parents.

Interestingly, the inhabitants of Ghana generally have two names. The second name they receive is often a name that refers to the day of the week the person was born on, but the name can also be something like a wish for a child at birth. Emilia’s middle name is Yaira, which means “BLESSED” in the language of the EWE tribe. That’s how we know that Vera was born on a Tuesday because her middle name is ABENA. Jessica has another name Mansa, which actually means – THE THIRD CHILD, but also means that the child is a descendant of kings. Little Marigold has another name, Mavunya, which in Ghana means the WORD OF GOD. They taught me that my middle name is AFIA because I was born on a Friday.

This cheerful family lives in the Sakumono district of Accra’s capital, in a small, unassuming house like this one:

Despite the fact that they live below the poverty line, these young ladies are cheerful and happy children. Their parents, although poor, try to give their princesses the very best they can. It is very, very difficult for them, but they try to raise their children as well as possible. Although they themselves have a modest education, they are aware of the fact that the most important thing and the most that they have to give to girls is education and endless love.

I met this family quite by accident, but in a short time I fell in love with them, and they fell in love with me. Every time I came to their house, I tried to please them with small gifts. Sometimes it was dresses and toys that I brought them from Serbia, and sometimes just a few sweets, but they were always infinitely grateful and, one might say, proud that they had a girlfriend OBURONI. OBURONI is the Akan word for foreigner (Akan is the largest ethnic group in West Africa, to which Ghana belongs). Literally translated, it means “those who come out of the horizon”, but this word is used in Ghana to mean “white person”. And every time I brought them gifts, they gave me bracelets that they make and sell with their mother. They showered me with hugs and sincere childish love.

Emilia, Vera, Jessica and Marigold inspired me to create this Foundation. I wanted the help that we will give them together to come as a surprise to them, but because of the information about them and their photos that are on this site, I informed their parents about it. The joy that everyone showed when I told them this is beyond words. I hope that soon we will have the opportunity to enjoy this happiness together with them.

In the pictures below, are my little friends and this poor, but in fact infinitely rich family, because real wealth is in children, happiness and positive energy.
